Navajo County seeks applicants after recorder resigns; deadline set for March

On January 27, 2026, Navajo County Recorder Timothy Jordan resigned from his position, creating a vacancy in the office. The Navajo County Board of Supervisors is now seeking candidates to fill the remainder of Mr. Jordan’s term, which runs through 2028.

“We know there are exceptional people living in Navajo County who could greatly serve their neighbors and provide effective leadership for their county,” said Daryl Seymore, Chairman of the Navajo County Board of Supervisors. “We hope some of those folks will step forward, so we can select the best qualified individual to serve the remainder of Recorder Jordan’s term.”

The role of County Recorder in Arizona involves two main responsibilities: recording public documents such as property deeds and managing voter registration and early voting processes. The office is responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring secure elections.

To qualify for appointment as County Recorder, candidates must be at least 18 years old, registered voters, residents of Navajo County, and registered Republicans. Letters of interest and resumes should be sent to Leah Thomas, Clerk of the Board. All applications must be received by March 6 at 5:00 pm.
