Arizona is in the top 10 most tax-friendly states, according to Kiplinger. The publication rated the state as ninth best overall when it comes to taxes for both individuals and businesses.
When making the ranking, the publication looked at overall burdens for income, sales, property and other business taxes.
Republican Gov. Doug Ducey told Prescott eNews that the state has been able to keep taxes low, while building the rainy day fund to $1 billion and making it a goal to reduce taxes and make them easier for people and for businesses to understand. His administration is the second consecutive GOP administration in the state. Republicans have controlled the governorship since 2009.
Over the past year, the state has also introduced a number of tax reforms to make it more closely match federal policy. This includes increasing standard deductions and adding a new child tax credit.
