While the majority of businesses are shutting their doors, Priority One Salon in Safford has decided that it will remain open amid the rising COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision came after owner, Jackie Bryce, announced that they would try to survive, stay open and take necessary precautions, according to EA Courier.
Precautions include limiting the clients in the salon to one client per technician, limiting the number of children inside and keeping up with state regulations for cleaning.
“I feel like we still have to live and go about our lives," Bryce told EA Courier. "If clients aren’t worried and willing to trust us, we’re going to stay open so we can keep paying our bills."
The salon owner and technicians said they are staying open for their co-workers in need of work and their elderly clients who look at the salon as a place to socialize.
“If I have to shut the doors I’m not so concerned about myself but about the girls who rent from me," Bryce said. "A lot of them are single parents. So that’s scary too, that so many single parents are out there and probably worried about how they’re going to feed their kids."
