While Show Low and the White Mountain region has had its share of setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Show Low Business Development Coordinator Steve North has been working to help local businesses.

Tourists are returning to their favorite places and unemployment is expected to drop back down to 5.5% by 2021, the White Mountain Independent reported. It also indicated a population increase of 1.4% by 2021. Local retail shops have taken a hit with the increase in online shopping and North believes the community will rally around their stores.

“But I think our community is rallying our local businesses and they’re going to shop all local businesses as much as possible,” he told the Independent.

The bright picture will help with the short-term struggles as residents battle red tape and a backlog in an effort to secure small business funding and unemployment benefits.

“Help’s coming soon,” North said.
