Gov. Doug Ducey (R-Arizona) enacted a new set of regulations through an Executive Order to battle the continuing spread of the COVID-19 virus on June 17.
“Since Arizona lifted its stay-at-home order on May 15, COVID-19 cases have increased considerably reaching record highs,” a Facebook post for the City of Safford stated. “We (Graham County) are asking residents to stay at home as much as possible.”
The new directives initiated through the Graham County Dept. of Health and Human Services mandate people to wear face masks in outside public places, to practice social distancing by six feet, to cover coughs with a tissue and to wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds using soap or alcohol-based sanitizers while cleaning and disinfecting touched surfaces.
In addition, the directives advise to avoid touching your mouth, nose or eyes with your hands, to avoid people who are sick and to stay at home if you are sick. The recommendations also include having one person do shopping.
The Facebook instructions warned that restrictions could be added or changed if the rate of infections goes up.
