Eastern Arizona College (EAC) has put new guidelines in place for students that will be returning to campus for the fall 2020 semester to minimize the risks associated with COVID-19, according to a news release by EAC.

“Our comprehensive planning allows us to welcome students back this fall,” said Todd Haynie, EAC president. “It will be our collective responsibility to help keep the campus safe. We strongly encourage students to mask-up, wash their hands regularly, stay six feet apart, and commit to a daily low-tech well check.”

To avoid the risk of students returning to campus with COVID-19 after Thanksgiving break, most classes will be held remotely after the break, and residence halls will have limited occupancy throughout the end of the semester.

Courses will be offered in a variety of formats including, traditional in-person classroom, remotely via online live classroom, a mix of in-person and online, entirely online via the Canvas web platform and dual enrollment (methods will be determined by area high schools).

Occupancy for on-campus housing will be limited to one student per bedroom, with room sharing available upon request. Residential students are required to comply with all health and safety laws and guidelines adopted by the college. Isolation and quarantine protocols are in place for any resident with COVID-19 symptoms.

Classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 24.
