Town of Springerville issued the following announcement on Jan. 26.
The Town of Springerville will be holding a Primary Election on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 for the purpose of electing two council members to fill four-year terms and one direct elect Mayor to fill a four-year term. A general election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, to fill any seats that remain unfilled after the primary election. A candidate receiving a majority of all votes cast at the Primary Election will be declared elected without running at the General Election if requirements are met under A.R.S. $ 9-821.01 and A.R.S. $ 16645. Anyone interested in running for a Council seat must be 18 years of age at the time of the Primary Election, be a qualified elector residing within the Springerville Town limits at the time of the election and have resided within the Town limits for one year preceding the election. Council members are non-partisan and serve at large (meaning that they represent all citizens, not a specific area or district of the Town).
Candidate nomination packets for anyone wishing to become a candidate for the Primary Election will be available for pickup February 1, 2022 at the Town Clerk's Office located at 418 E Main St. Springerville, AZ 85938. Packets may be filed from March 7, 2022 until April 4, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Candidate packets need to be filed at the Town Clerk's Office. A.R.S. 16-311 (B).
