Most city offices and facilities in Scottsdale will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas. This includes the suspension of solid waste collection on that day. Residents are advised that trash and recycling pickup will be delayed by one day. Additional information can be found on the official city website.

In January, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will commence a widening and improvement project on Loop 101. The project, which is expected to take place over the next two years, will focus on the stretch between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive/Pima Road. The construction will involve adding an extra lane in each direction and making modifications to the interchanges.
To facilitate the construction, there will be scheduled closures on the weekends of Jan. 5 and 12. Northbound Loop 101, from Shea Boulevard to Princess Drive/Pima Road, will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, until 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 8. Detour routes will be clearly marked, and drivers will be able to re-enter the freeway at Princess Drive/Pima Road.
Similarly, southbound Loop 101, from Princess Drive/Pima Road to Shea Boulevard, will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, until 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15. Detour routes will be provided, and motorists can re-enter the freeway at Shea Boulevard.

In other news, the city of Scottsdale is hosting several public meetings this week to discuss various issues, projects, and activities. These include the Protect and Preserve Scottsdale Task Force meeting on Monday, Dec. 18, the Tourism Development Commission meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Library Board meeting and the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 20, the PSPRS Fire meeting on Thursday, Dec. 21, and the Development Review Board meeting and Transportation Commission meeting also on Thursday, Dec. 21.
