FOIA Request Sent to Apache County Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Apache County on October 30, 2024, by East Arizona News. The request specifically sought access to the pre-election test reports for election voting machines under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Arizona News believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to such records allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities and ensure that our reporting is grounded in factual information.

The requested records include specific details about the voting machines used in the elections. These details include the date of testing, machine manufacture, machine model number, and the status of each machine (whether it passed or failed).

In line with our role as a media organization disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request. We believe that our work contributes significantly to keeping citizens informed about their local government's operations and decisions.

We eagerly await Apache County's response and remain committed to delivering reliable news coverage on local governmental affairs.
