FOIA Request to Apache County Elections Office Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
We at East Arizona News have submitted a request for records under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq., specifically seeking information about the candidates running in the upcoming election. The request was made with a focus on ensuring comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs.
The requested details include each candidate's first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, their jurisdiction of office, and party affiliation. In addition to these details, we have also asked for all contact information of the candidates which includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to providing thorough news coverage on local government affairs, access to public records is crucial for us at East Arizona News. This enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await response from the Apache County Elections Office regarding this request.
