FOIA Request to Navajo County Recorder Office Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Arizona News have submitted a request for public records under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq. The request was sent electronically to the Navajo County Recorder Office.
The requested records include a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. We have asked for detailed information about each candidate, including their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.
In addition to this, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
