Representative Tom O’Halleran Speaks to Students at the Diné College Tuba City Center

Representative O’ Halleran is the current incumbent to congressional district 2 sharing his desire to continue conversing about issues and concerns from the college town, Tuba City. O’Halleran stopped by the Diné College Tuba City Center and met with staff and students discussing the state of their higher education, local issues, and what they want to see from their government representative moving forward. Students expressed their gratitude for federal ARPA funding advocated and supported by O’Halleran in Congress that was made available to the College to upgrade its HVAC system and provide safety barriers for the Tuba City Center classrooms. O’ Halleran is no stranger to the Navajo Nation and has cultivated deep ties with tribal communities throughout the State through his commitment to and one could say adoption of Ke’ in his dealings with Navajo people. Emphasizing to the campus “It was an absolute pleasure getting to visdit Dine College Tuba City, tour campus, and talk to students. “I am looking forward to continued work together to identify federal funding that will grow the school and holistically improve opportunities for Navajo families”….

Provost welcomed the Congressman stating, “with the funding made available by the advocacy of the Congressman, Diné College was able to provide a 100 percent tuition grant and up to $700 book voucher for all registered students for fall 2022.” With a current enrollment of 1500 students for Fall 2022, the College has seen an enrollment increase of about 200 students from 2019 to 2022. Along with a brief tour, O’Halleran looks to provide additional funding opportunities for tribal communities and tribal colleges.

As a postsecondary educational institution, Diné College awards Associate degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, and Certificates in areas important to the economic and social development of the Navajo Nation. To comply with the College mission, personalized instruction is guaranteed to each student because of the low student-faculty ratio. All are welcome to apply.
