Transportation & Streets crews wrapped up work on the Shea Blvd. paving project five days ahead of schedule. Crews removed or ‘milled’ 1 ¾ inches of old asphalt from Shea Blvd. and applied a new hot mix asphalt “overlay” to the roadway. The three-mile project area ran from Scottsdale Rd. to 96th St. on Shea Blvd. Construction was scheduled overnight to minimize impacts to the traveling public and maintain business access during daytime work hours.
The project required extensive coordination between city paving inspectors, barricade companies, city paving contractors, material delivery trucks, off-duty police officers and survey companies. Find out more about what keeps Scottsdale moving.
