You can help the City Council appoint the best qualified people to become full-time city judges, evaluate their performances and advise on who to retain. Two citizen member positions are available on the Judicial Appointment Advisory Board and are open to Scottsdale residents who are not judges in any official capacity, retired judges or members of the State Bar of Arizona.

Scottsdale has several other openings on various boards and commissions. Residents wishing to volunteer their time and institute a positive change are invited to apply to serve.

  • Board of Adjustment (two openings)
  • Development Review Board (three openings)
  • Environmental Advisory Commission (one opening)
  • McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission (one opening)
  • Neighborhood Advisory Commission (one opening)
  • Tourism Development Commission (one Scottsdale Hotelier position opening)
  • Transportation Commission (one opening)
Information about the functions of these boards and commissions can be found at ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “Boards and Commissions.”

Interested applicants must submit an online application by Tuesday, Oct. 31. Submitted applications are valid for one year.

The City Council will review materials and nominate candidates from the applicant pool in November, with interviews and appointments scheduled to take place in December. All board and commission members are required to comply with the city’s Ethics Code and attend a training session before officially beginning their term.
