Scottsdale Parks and Recreation has launched a master planning process to improve parks and recreation programs in the city over the next decade. The department is inviting residents to share their ideas for the future at the "Ideas in Play Pop-up" event on Saturday, Jan. 27. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy free donuts and family fun while providing valuable input for the blueprint of future projects.

In other news, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has provided an update on the Loop 101 construction project. There will be weeknight right lane and ramp closures until Thursday, Jan. 18, to allow for the installation of temporary concrete barriers. ADOT advises that the schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen resource issues.

The city of Scottsdale also encourages residents to attend public meetings to stay informed about city issues, projects, and activities. This week, there will be meetings for the Library Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Airport Advisory Commission, and Scottsdale Environmental Advisory Commission. Next week, there will be meetings for the City Council Special Meeting, City Council Regular Meeting and Work Study Session, Neighborhood Advisory Commission, and Human Services Advisory Commission.

Looking for things to do in Scottsdale? Join the Regional Unity Walk on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Tempe Beach Park to promote mutual respect and understanding among communities. Additionally, Scottsdale is kicking off its Signature Event Season, which will run until April 5. Some of the upcoming highlights include the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, the Arizona Concours d'Elegance, and Scottsdale Western Week. These events celebrate the city's rich heritage and offer a variety of entertainment options for residents and visitors alike.

For ongoing activities, residents can explore the Scottsdale ArtWalk, which takes place every Thursday and showcases over 100 galleries. The Old Town Farmers Market is another option, offering a variety of organic produce and specialty items every Saturday. The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts also hosts exciting and diverse events throughout the year.

In terms of programs and services, Scottsdale is offering the Scottsdale 101 Citizen Academy, a nine-week program designed to enhance participants' understanding of the inner workings of the city. The program is open to Scottsdale residents and business owners and requires participation in seven out of nine sessions. Applications are now being accepted.

For those in need of vaccinations, the Paiute Neighborhood Center is hosting a free vaccination clinic on Jan. 18 and Feb. 22. Vaccines available include hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Tdap, shingles, pneumococcal, and COVID-19. The clinic is open to all ages, and insurance information is not required.

The Paiute Neighborhood Center also offers free legal advice provided by the Scottsdale Bar Association. Community members can discuss legal issues, receive advice, and obtain referrals during the clinic, which takes place on the second Tuesday of every month. Appointments can be made by calling 480-312-2529.

In other news, the Hayden and Indian Bend roads intersection project is underway, with the addition of dual left turn lanes on Hayden Road. Construction is scheduled to be completed by spring 2024.
