Holbrook Unified District welcomed 1,838 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,838 students enrolled in Holbrook Unified District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.9% more than the 1,804 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.1% of them were boys, and 45.9% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were American Indian or Alaskan Native, representing 59.4% of the Holbrook Unified District total enrollment.

Holbrook Unified District roughly covers schools within Navajo County and has a main office in Holbrook.

Among the five schools in Holbrook Unified District, Holbrook High School recorded the highest enrollment of 653 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.
