If you are suffering from sinus problems, you're in good company.
Each year, nearly 37 million Americans suffer from at least one episode of acute nasal inflammation each year, according to AmericanSinus.com.
Pop star Ariana Grande was one of them. She has dealt with bouts of sinus headache and inflammation of the sinuses.
She apologized to fans after cancelling a performance in Portugal in 2016 due to a throat infection, sinus infection and nasal inflammation, Yahoo! News reported.
“Hi my loves. So I’m still very sick. I’ve been sick since the last London show,” she wrote on Instagram, according to Yahoo! News. “I don’t know how it’s possible but my throat and head are still in so much pain. I sound OK, I’m just in a lot of pain and it’s difficult to breathe during the show.”
In 2019, Grande canceled a concert in Lexington, Kentucky due to a sinus infection, the Huffington Post reported. This time Grande was suffering sinus inflammation without congestion and sinus allergies. The singer had been on the road for nine long months already for her Sweetener World Tour.
“Chronic sinusitis can have many significant consequences to one’s health," said Dr. John Stewart of Arizona Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers. "If left untreated, it can affect not only one’s nasal passageways and respiratory system, but your cardiovascular health as well.”
One of the treatment options for chronic inflammation, is a balloon sinuplasty. In this procedure, a tiny balloon is inserted into the nose and expanded, opening the nasal passages, according to AmericanSinus.com.
